Custom Dev EdTech / Learning platforms

Custom WordPress plugin connecting Open edX with WooCommerce.

eduNEXT needed a robust integration between their Open edX platform and WooCommerce. We took their existing plugin and rewrote it with a scalable architecture — automatic enrollments, refund management and course sync in 4 sprints.

The Challenge.

Take an existing plugin and turn it into the most reliable piece of the stack — automatic enrollment, clean refunds, ready to scale. The challenge: do it in 4 sprints without breaking what was already running in production.

What we did.

We took the existing plugin as a base and rewrote it in 4 sprints — edge-case coverage, separation of concerns and a full enrollment cycle: purchase, access, refund and tracking.

  • Audit of the existing plugin and mapping of uncovered edge cases
  • New flow architecture: purchase → enrollment → access in Open edX
  • Automatic enrollment on order completion in WooCommerce
  • Refunds with soft unenrollment — preserves student history
  • Enrollment status query API for external integrations
  • Open edX authentication inside WordPress and unit testing

The Results.

  • A student buys in WooCommerce and is automatically enrolled in Open edX within seconds.
  • Refunds are processed while preserving student history — no data loss.
  • The plugin shipped with tests, documentation and an architecture ready to scale with the platform.
  • Delivered in 4 sprints — without breaking what was already running in production.
